The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is expected to announce its new National President by the end of December 2024, according to insiders. Preparations for a comprehensive electoral process are reportedly nearing completion, setting the stage for leadership changes across all organizational levels within the party.
In keeping with party tradition, the elections will commence at the grassroots level, progressing from local committees to mandal, district, regional, and state committees. Each elected president at these levels will nominate a team of office-bearers, culminating in a national leadership election once elections in half the states have concluded.
The BJP's constitution allows a National President to serve a maximum of two consecutive three-year terms. This structure was amended in 2012, when Nitin Gadkari was considered for a second term. Jagat Prakash Nadda, who has been serving since January 2020, will continue till year's end before a new successor steps in.
