Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif departed for London on Friday to receive medical treatments, his party announced.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader's UK trip comes a year post his return to Pakistan after a four-year self-imposed exile. The 74-year-old ex-premier, accompanied by substantial security detail, left Lahore Airport, starting his journey to London with a brief stopover in Dubai.
According to party sources, he plans a day-long stay in Dubai before heading to London, where he's slated for medical procedures and spending time with family. He is expected to hold vital discussions during his stay. His daughter, Maryam Nawaz, Punjab's Chief Minister, is also anticipated to join him in London soon.
