A political storm has erupted in Kerala over allegations of bribery involving an NCP MLA. The reports claim that Thomas K Thomas allegedly offered Rs 50 crore to two Left Democratic Front (LDF) legislators to recruit them into Ajit Pawar's NCP faction, an ally of the BJP.
The ruling LDF refuted the accusations and announced an inquiry. State ministers have denied awareness of any such proposition, standing firm against any actions undermining the coalition's integrity. CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam asserts that such individuals don't belong in the LDF, demanding a formal investigation.
The controversy intensified after reports suggested Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan barred Thomas from a Cabinet position due to a related complaint. Meanwhile, calls for a balanced investigation into the scandal, potentially reaching the Central Bureau of Investigation, are gaining momentum.
