In a significant political shift before the Maharashtra assembly elections, Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of the late MLA Baba Siddique, has switched allegiance from the Congress to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Siddiqui will represent NCP in Vandre East, a seat he previously won in 2019 against Shiv Sena's Vishwanath Mahadeshwar.
Siddiqui expressed gratitude towards NCP leaders Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, and Sunil Tatkare for their support, amid his dissatisfaction with Congress after losing his seat to the coalition with Shiv Sena (UBT). On social media, Siddiqui expressed disappointment over Congress' decisions and vowed to fulfill his father's unfinished mission to reclaim the seat.
The political landscape in Maharashtra sees further reshuffling as other leaders, including former BJP cadres, join NCP. With elections scheduled for November, strategic moves by political figures highlight the dynamic and contentious nature of alliances forming ahead of the polls.
