In a significant move for Jharkhand politics, state leaders including Chief Minister Hemant Soren filed their nomination papers for the upcoming assembly polls. Soren, representing the JMM party, is contesting from the Barhait constituency, a region historically linked to revolutionary figures Sido-Kanu, Phulo-Jhano, and Chand-Bhairav.
Barhait, a stronghold for the JMM, previously saw Soren winning against BJP's Simon Malto by over 25,000 votes in the 2019 elections. This time, Soren pledges to achieve the aspirations of the region's martyrs, while BJP's Amar Kumar Bauri, who filed from Chandankiyari, promises to overhaul the current government.
The assembly polls are slated for November, spanning two phases. Notable nominations include Soren's wife Kalpana from Gandey, BJP's CP Singh from Ranchi, and multiple Congress leaders. The election outcomes will be revealed on November 23, closing an intense nomination process.
