In a significant diplomatic development, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened at the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. According to state-run Xinhua news agency, Xi agreed 'in principle' to Modi's proposals for improving China-India relations.
During their first meeting in five years, the leaders highlighted the need for understanding and cooperation between the two populous, neighboring nations. They acknowledged recent progress in border areas and viewed the meeting as a constructive step toward fostering mutual development and harmony.
