In a pivotal meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the critical issue of border tensions. The two leaders endorsed a recent agreement on patrolling and disengagement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
During their 50-minute discussion, Modi highlighted the importance of managing differences without disrupting peace in border areas, stressing mutual trust and respect as cornerstones of India-China relations. They also pushed for the revival of the Special Representatives' dialogue mechanism to tackle boundary questions effectively.
Both leaders reviewed bilateral relations, stressing the necessity to enhance strategic communication for developmental cooperation. India and China, as the world's two largest countries, aim for stable relations to benefit regional and global peace, with Modi reaffirming India's support for China's SCO presidency in 2025.
