In Assam, four candidates filed nominations on Wednesday for the by-elections scheduled for November 13. The elections will be held in the Behali, Sidli, Bongaigaon, Dholai, and Samaguri constituencies, according to officials.

The candidates include BJP's Diganta Ghatowar for Behali, Congress's Sanjib Warie for Sidli (ST), Independent Sailen Sarkar for Bongaigaon, and SUCI's Gaur Chandra Das for Dholai (SC). To date, a total of five nominations have been submitted, including Congress's Dhrubajyoti Purkayastha, who filed on Tuesday.

The necessity for these by-elections arose after several MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha. Among them are BJP's Parimal Suklabaidya and Ranjit Dutta, AGP's Phanibhushan Choudhury, and UPPL's Joyanta Basumatary. Nomination deadlines stretch to October 25, with scrutiny and withdrawal on October 28 and October 30.
