Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that Hussainabad in Jharkhand's Palamu district will be transformed into a district if the BJP secures victory in the imminent state elections. The potential names for this new district include Lord Ram or Krishna.
Sarma, the co-in-charge of BJP's campaign in Jharkhand, underlined the party's priority to expel infiltrators from the state. The establishment of Hussainabad as a district would be formalized during the first cabinet meeting under a new BJP-led government.
The statement was made during an election rally where Sarma supported Kamlesh Singh, a former Nationalist Congress Party legislator, who switched allegiance to the BJP. The demand for Hussainabad's district status has been longstanding for Singh, leading him to withdraw support from the Hemant Soren government last year when his demands were unheeded. Sarma also alleged demographic changes in Jharkhand due to Bangladeshi infiltrators, asserting that the BJP will implement the National Register of Citizens to address this issue.
