In a significant diplomatic development, India and China have agreed to resume patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. This breakthrough comes after over four years of military standoff between the two nations.
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi emphasized the importance of restoring trust between the two sides at a recent defense think-tank event. He expressed hopes of returning to the status quo of April 2020, aiming for phased disengagement, de-escalation, and normal management of the LAC.
The agreement, announced on Monday, follows extensive negotiations. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted that Indian and Chinese soldiers would once again patrol the border as they did before the conflict, ensuring peace and stability in the region.
