The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has turned down all demands made by MLA P V Anvar, leader of the Democratic Movement of Kerala (DMK), who sought support for his candidates in the upcoming by-elections in Kerala.
Anvar, a former ally of the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), proposed backing the Congress candidate in Palakkad, Rahul Mamkootathil, under the condition that the UDF withdraws their candidate in Chelakkara, Remya Haridas. The Democratic Movement of Kerala has fielded its own candidates, Minhaj Medar for Palakkad and N K Sudheer in Chelakkara.
Opposition Leader V D Satheesan firmly rejected Anvar's terms, questioning his motives and accusing him of aiding the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The political rift highlights ongoing tensions between opposing factions attempting to consolidate their electoral chances.
