In a significant political development, BJP allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) announced their candidates for the upcoming assembly by-elections in Assam. The elections are set for next month in several constituencies, including Dholai, Sidli, and Bongaigaon.
These bypolls are necessitated by the vacancies left by MLAs who recently won seats in the Lok Sabha. Notably, AGP has nominated Diptimoy Choudhury for the Bongaigaon constituency, while UPPL has put forward Nirmal Kumar Brahma in Sidli.
The BJP had earlier declared candidates for three constituencies, while the Congress revealed its selection for four seats. The elections are scheduled for November 13, with vote counting on November 23, setting the stage for a fierce political contest.
