Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing it of being the biggest adversary to Maharashtra's farmers. Kharge, in a post on X, highlighted the tragic suicide of 20,000 farmers and criticized the party for failing to fulfill promises of making the state drought-free.
Kharge slammed the BJP for its alleged refusal to compensate farmers, despite insurance companies receiving significant funds. He also criticized the government for imposing high exports duties on onions and soybeans and pointed to the decline in cotton and sugarcane production, claiming these actions have distressed farmers.
Kharge declared the need for a 'MahaParivartan' through the upcoming state elections, blaming the current double engine government. The opposition MVA alliance aims to challenge the ruling Mahayuti coalition in the assembly elections, slated for November 20, with results expected on November 23.
