Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish Muslim preacher and a significant figure accused by Ankara of orchestrating a failed coup in 2016, has reportedly died in the United States, according to broadcaster NTV and other Turkish media.
The news of Gulen's death, while significant, could not immediately be confirmed.
Gulen, whose Islamic movement expanded well beyond Turkey, spent years denying the accusations leveled against him of plotting against Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.
