Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Lahar Singh has called for greater accountability and transparency in the ongoing investigation into the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scandal. Singh voiced concerns over the alleged involvement of Congress MP G Kumar Nayak, a former Deputy Commissioner of Mysore.
Singh, distancing himself from the allegations, highlighted a High Court judgment that accused Nayak of attempting to seize land from Scheduled Castes to benefit a former Deputy Chief Minister's family. Singh criticized the officer's failure to protect the Dalit community and called for his resignation, further questioning the adequacy of the Lokayukta investigation.
In a Twitter post, BJP leader Amit Malviya cited the Karnataka High Court's call for an independent probe, questioning Congress's silence on the allegations against Nayak. Malviya urged the Enforcement Directorate and Lokayukta for a thorough investigation, amidst mounting political pressure following MUDA Chairman Mari Gowda's resignation.
