The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Central Election Committee is gearing up for a pivotal meeting at the party's national headquarters, aiming to finalize candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections. High-profile attendees, including PM Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other key figures, will deliberate on this crucial decision-making process.
In a preparatory move before the central meeting, the Jharkhand BJP unit shortlisted three candidates per constituency, refining this list to one candidate during a critical discussion presided over by JP Nadda on October 7. The meeting, attended by influential Jharkhand leaders, sets the stage for the final decision, underscoring the party's strategic approach to candidate selection.
The BJP plans to allocate 9 seats to the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), 2 to Janata Dal United (JDU), and 1 to Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) despite higher demands. The party's focus remains on winability, with assurances of tribal representation in all 28 tribal seats, and a keen eye on family members of senior leaders deserving candidacy. In a broader vision for Jharkhand, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to combat infiltration, signaling a decisive electoral strategy aimed at securing Jharkhand's future.
