The ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra has made significant headway in seat-sharing discussions for the forthcoming assembly elections. Senior NCP leader Praful Patel confirmed on Monday that consensus has been reached on around 230 seats out of the 288-seats assembly.

Patel assured reporters that final decisions on the remaining seats would be communicated within the next two to four days. The Mahayuti coalition, which includes the NCP, BJP, and Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde, faces renewed questions about internal cohesion. This speculation follows Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's abrupt early exit from a recent state Cabinet meeting.

In response to rumors of a rift, Pawar stated, "all is well" within the alliance as it gears up for elections. The current assembly's term expires on November 26, prompting leaders to expedite the final 10 percent of seat negotiations. State BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule noted that talks on 90 percent of the seats are already completed.
