A third individual has been apprehended in connection with the high-profile murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique. Pravin Lonkar, detained from Pune, has been remanded to police custody until October 21 by a Mumbai court.
Lonkar's arrest follows allegations that he enlisted gunmen in the assassination, an act connected to his brother's ties with incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The court heard these claims while the prosecution argued that Lonkar must be interrogated further.
The slaying occurred in Mumbai's Bandra area on Saturday night, with possible motives including political rivalry. Baba Siddique was a revered political figure noted for his humanitarian efforts during the pandemic.
