The Aam Aadmi Party has urged the National Conference-Congress alliance for a cabinet position for its lone MLA from Doda, Mehraj Malik, in the soon-to-be-formed Jammu and Kashmir government headed by Omar Abdullah.

Mehraj Malik secured a significant win over BJP's Ganjay Singh Rana by more than 4,538 votes in the recent assembly elections held in the Union Territory. AAP leader Sanjay Singh, speaking at a press conference, asked the alliance to accommodate Malik in the new government. This appeal followed AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal's visit to Doda, where he thanked residents for electing Malik as AAP's first MLA in the region.

The NC-Congress alliance, emerging victorious with a total of 48 seats out of 90, is set to form the government, with Omar Abdullah elected as the chief minister. National Conference won 42 seats, while Congress secured six. Kejriwal expressed hope that Malik will serve not only Doda but the wider region of J&K, demonstrating AAP's support for the upcoming administration.
