On Monday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang began a significant four-day visit to Pakistan, marking a notable event as it's the first visit by a Chinese premier in 11 years. During his stay, Li will participate in the SCO summit and meet Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss key bilateral interests, most notably the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Welcomed at the Nur Khan airbase by Prime Minister Sharif and cabinet ministers, Li’s visit comes amid heightened security concerns following recent attacks on Chinese nationals in Pakistan. The visit underscores the enduring alliance between China and Pakistan, with focus areas including economic cooperation and regional stability.
