Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has expressed his profound shock and sadness following the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. Chennithala accused the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government of failing to maintain law and order, resulting in Siddique's untimely death.
Baba Siddique, who served as a minister in Maharashtra, was shot dead by three men in Mumbai. While two of the assailants have been apprehended, the incident has raised questions about the state's security situation under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.
Chennithala, reflecting on his 48-year political association with Siddique, criticized the Shinde administration for deteriorating law enforcement. He demanded moral accountability and suggested that both Shinde and Fadnavis should resign. The murder, happening outside the office of Siddique's MLA son, further underscores concerns about rising crime in Mumbai.
