Stressing the role of a free, open Indo-Pacific, Modi highlighted the necessity of respecting UNCLOS for maritime conduct.

Modi's address underlined a call for collective efforts against terrorism and highlighted India's support for ASEAN's unity, a central element of India's Indo-Pacific strategy. He linked sustainability to dialogue over territorial expansionism, stressing a humanitarian perspective.

Despite ongoing global conflicts such as the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas wars, Modi announced a 10-point connectivity plan to strengthen India-ASEAN ties, reiterating India's leadership in digital public infrastructure and concrete actions, like reviving Nalanda University.
