The recent Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections brought fresh faces into the political landscape, with 51 newcomers among the 90 elected members. This marks a significant shift as first-time MLAs take their seats in the newly formed Union Territory's legislature.
Leading the charge, the National Conference became the single-largest party, securing 42 seats, out of which 24 are first-time legislators. The Bharatiya Janata Party followed closely, winning 29 seats with 15 debutant candidates, showing their stronghold in the Jammu plains.
The Congress managed to gain six seats in the Kashmir valley, with two new MLAs, while the People's Democratic Party and Aam Aadmi Party each introduced first-time representatives. Notable names among these fresh faces include PDP's Waheed Para and AAP's Mehraj Malik.
