The Congress party has raised serious allegations against a close associate of Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda, accusing him of involvement in a drug trade in the state. Following a significant drug haul from a factory near Bhopal, the opposition has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the matter.
Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitendra Patwari claimed that the Modi government, accountable for the bust in Bhopal, has failed to address the rising drug addiction crisis affecting millions. The Congress demands Devda's resignation, pointing to numerous photographs of him with the alleged drug kingpin.
The controversy intensified after authorities seized 907.09 kg of mephedrone, both solid and liquid, valued at Rs 1,814 crore, during a raid by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad and Narcotics Control Bureau, marking the country's largest illegal drug factory bust.
