In a recent development, Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown reluctance to engage in peace discussions with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. This was disclosed by Germany's foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock, on Friday.
Speaking in Berlin, alongside the Slovakian foreign minister, Baerbock expressed criticism towards Putin, stating that he has turned down attempts at peace talks. She emphasized that Ukraine is ready for a just peace, while Putin continues to propagate war and destruction.
Baerbock highlighted her concerns that Putin has escalated his stance to the point of not even being willing to communicate with the German chancellor over the phone. The remarks came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was scheduled to meet with Scholz for diplomatic discussions.
