In a surprising revelation, Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Suresh Gopi, stated on Thursday that Chief Minister and CPI(M) veteran Pinarayi Vijayan had once extended an invitation for him to join the party, which he declined.
Gopi made these remarks while speaking at an event, emphasizing that his refusal was due to a disliking for politics. He challenged Vijayan to deny the claim, adding that his stance was consistent with other political leaders as well.
Despite his initial reluctance, Gopi disclosed that certain incidents on August 2, 2014, compelled him to enter the political arena. He refrained from providing details about these incidents, only mentioning that the CPI(M) had tried to support him without success.
