In a striking revelation, 84 per cent of the newly elected MLAs in Jammu and Kashmir are now identified as crorepatis. This marks a 9 per cent surge from the figures recorded in 2014. The Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) reports average declared assets for these legislators stand at an impressive Rs 11.43 crore.

Delving deeper, some of the wealthiest names include Jammu and Kashmir Congress president Tariq Hamid Karra and BJP's Devender Rana. With assets surpassing Rs 100 crore, Karra leads the pack, followed closely by Rana and National Conference's Mushtaq Ahmad Guroo.

Interestingly, disparity remains evident. AAP's Mehraj Malik is the poorest, owning assets worth a mere Rs 29,070. While wealth disparity is stark, the overall net worth of MLAs has seen a substantial rise, indicating broader economic and financial implications.
