On Thursday, the Congress-led UDF opposition called for a thorough investigation into allegations against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, claiming his previous statements incited violence against Youth Congress members. The demand was highlighted by Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan during a state assembly session.

Satheesan referred to a recent magisterial court decision, which instructed police to assess the validity of the accusations against Vijayan. The investigation stems from a complaint filed by Ernakulam District Congress Committee president Muhammed Shiyas.

In response, state Excise and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M B Rajesh clarified that the court has merely ordered an initial investigation under section 202 (1) of the CrPC. The objective is to determine whether the complaint holds enough merit to warrant further legal action.
