In the wake of the Congress party's unexpected defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections, Karnataka Minister and prominent Congress leader Priyank Kharge has called for a thorough introspection into the results. Kharge expressed that the party was 'extremely confident' about clinching victory but lost its way in critical areas, necessitating corrective measures.
According to Kharge, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi are poised to take significant steps towards addressing the issues that led to the setback. He remarked on the lost opportunity in Haryana, emphasizing a need to realign strategies ahead of the forthcoming elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi slammed the Congress for failing to leverage the existing anti-incumbency sentiment. He attributed the BJP's triumph to internal discord within the Congress ranks, allowing the rival party to exploit electoral gaps effectively. With the BJP capturing 48 seats in the 90-member assembly, it is poised to form its third consecutive government in Haryana, leaving Congress with a resultant 37 seats.
