Congress leader Karan Singh on Wednesday pointed out the stark political divide between the regions of Jammu and Kashmir, labeling it as a significant challenge for the incoming government.
Singh praised the successful completion of free and fair elections in the region after a decade, commending the Election Commission and security forces for their efforts. The National Conference excelled in Kashmir, whereas the BJP dominated Jammu, creating a regional schism that needs to be addressed.
Additionally, Singh urged the swift restoration of full statehood for Jammu & Kashmir, a commitment previously made by the Government, and called for domiciliary provisions similar to those in Uttarakhand and Himachal to be introduced to prevent corrupt practices. He expressed hope for a transformative phase of harmony and development in the state.
