Cameroon Government Denies Rumors About President Biya's Health

Cameroon's government has firmly denied swirling rumors regarding the health condition of its 91-year-old president, Paul Biya. In a statement on Tuesday, officials dismissed reports of Biya's supposed ailment as 'pure fantasy' and reaffirmed his good health.

Biya's public absence since his participation in a China-Africa forum in early September, coupled with his no-show at a recent summit in France, fueled speculation about his well-being. Government spokesperson Rene Sadi addressed these concerns, stating that Biya was on a private visit to Europe and would soon return to Cameroon.

The potential consequences of Biya's passing are significant, given Cameroon's ongoing security challenges and absence of a clear successor. His prolonged absence from international and local engagements raises anxieties about future political stability in the region.
