National Conference's Triumph in J&K Elections: Omar Abdullah to Head New Government

National Conference candidate Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed expressed jubilation following the results of the Lal Chowk assembly election, emphasizing public trust in the party amidst attempts by the BJP to undermine it. 'People reaffirmed their faith in the NC,' Ahmed commented.
According to Election Commission data, the National Conference, in coalition with Congress, secured 48 seats, enabling a firm governmental formation in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP captured 29 seats in the Jammu area, while the Aam Aadmi Party won the Doda constituency, marking its entry into J-K politics.
Omar Abdullah, National Conference Vice President, criticized exit polls as irrelevant. 'Paying attention to them warrants deserved ridicule,' he noted on social media. Celebrating their electoral success, the National Conference and Congress alliance crossed the halfway mark in the assembly, with Farooq Abdullah naming Omar Abdullah as the new Chief Minister.
