National Conference stalwarts Abdul Rahim Rather and Ali Mohammad Sagar achieved an unprecedented milestone by securing their seventh term in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections on Tuesday.
Rather, a seasoned politician, reclaimed his seat of Chrar-i-Shareef with a commanding lead of over 11,000 votes, bouncing back from his 2014 loss to the PDP's Ghulam Nabi Lone. Sagar, the NC general secretary, maintained his unbroken winning streak since being first elected in 1983 and decisively defeated former deputy mayor Sheikh Imran in Khanyar.
While the NC celebrated these victories, other hopefuls like Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen and Mubarak Gul faced mixed outcomes, highlighting the dynamic electoral landscape in the region.
