Senior AIADMK leader and legislator N Thalavai Sundaram has been temporarily relieved from his party posts as part of a disciplinary action. The announcement was made by the AIADMK on Tuesday.

The move comes in the wake of Sundaram allegedly taking part in a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) rally in Kanniyakumari district. While AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami did not directly mention the rally, he indicated that Sundaram's conduct was against the party's policies, objectives, and rules.

As the situation demands further investigation, Sundaram has been relieved from his roles as the party's organizing secretary and Kanyakumari east district secretary. Sundaram, who was elected from the Kanniyakumari constituency in the 2021 Assembly election, also served as a former state minister. It's notable that AIADMK severed ties with the BJP in 2023.
