The Congress party declared on Tuesday that the populace of Jammu and Kashmir has successfully countered the BJP's alleged schemes to secure a majority in the region. Celebrating their alliance's achievement, Congress emphasized the joint government's focus on reinstating full statehood for the Union Territory.
Despite the alliance's triumph, Congress acknowledged its underperformance in the Jammu area. The partnership between the National Conference and Congress resulted in crossing the halfway mark by obtaining 48 seats, with Congress's partner securing over three-quarters of those seats. Meanwhile, the BJP managed to secure 29 seats.
Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary for communications, highlighted the electorate's clear mandate in favor of the NC-Congress coalition. He asserted that their priority remains in establishing a government committed to responsibility and transparency, amidst BJP's alleged unsuccessful majority plans.
