The Kerala state Assembly on Tuesday was the scene of intense debate, with the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) at loggerheads over meetings between ADGP Ajithkumar and RSS leaders, and alleged comments made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan about Malappuram district.
The opposition, notably the Congress and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), accused the Left government of shielding Ajithkumar despite serious allegations. They also criticized the CM for comments they claimed vilified the Muslim-majority district, perpetuating a Sangh Parivar narrative.
The LDF stoutly defended its actions, dismissing the accusations as baseless attempts by the UDF, aided by certain media outlets, to defame the CM. The government stated that a thorough investigation had found insufficient evidence against Ajithkumar, leading to his transfer from law and order roles.
