The recent Haryana Assembly elections have served as a sobering reminder of the perils of overconfidence, according to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal. Despite a decade of anti-incumbency sentiment against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress party failed to reclaim power.

Both the AAP and Congress were unable to form a pre-poll alliance, primarily due to disagreements over seat sharing. As a result, AAP lost all contested seats, and Congress fell short of the majority needed to govern, paving the way for BJP's third consecutive term in office.

Sushil Gupta, AAP's state chief in Haryana, claimed that an alliance similar to the Lok Sabha elections could have yielded different results. The election outcomes have disappointed the AAP, notably with senior vice president Anurag Dhanda ending in a distant seventh place in the Kalayat constituency.
