The Manipur Congress on Tuesday voiced a strong condemnation against the Enforcement Directorate's recent summons to state party chief K. Meghachandra, labeling it as a ''politics of vendetta.'' The party asserts that this move is an attempt to silence their criticism of the 'double-engine' government.
Senior Congress spokesperson Bupendra Meite, in a statement to reporters, emphasized the party's stance. He highlighted Meghachandra's role as an outspoken critic of both state and central government policies, focusing on their alleged failures to meet the needs of the Manipur populace.
The summons, directed by the ED's assistant director, Amit Kumar, required Meghachandra to appear in Delhi on October 7, relating to an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. However, due to late receipt, Meghachandra could not comply, stirring further dissent among Congress members regarding governmental pressure tactics.
