The Congress has lashed out at the Election Commission following its dismissal of claims regarding a slowdown in updating Haryana election results. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh argued that the poll panel's response misrepresented facts and degraded discourse to a level resembling the BJP's tactics.
Ramesh explained that observations of unreported rounds were noted by various individuals, both on television and social media. He emphasized that Congress bases its complaints on reliable information and that the Election Commission has acted on several issues raised by the party, contradicting claims of malice.
The letter from Congress urges the Chief Election Commissioner to ensure neutrality, reminding the commission of its constitutional duty to maintain a level playing field. The response, seen by Congress as defensive, raises alarm about malicious narratives affecting the electoral process.
