In a recent statement, Communist Party of India (CPI) Rajya Sabha MP P Sandosh Kumar proclaimed that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have turned away from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He highlighted the significance of these elections as the first since the nullification of Article 370 and emphasized the clear rejection of BJP policies by the electorate.
The National Conference emerged victorious in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections with 42 seats, while the BJP secured 29, Congress won 6, and JK-PDP captured 3 seats, according to the Election Commission of India. Kumar renewed the call for the immediate reinstatement of statehood to the region, expressing concern over potential BJP efforts to retain control over J&K through indirect strategies.
Turning his attention to the Haryana elections, Kumar criticized Congress for the perceived complacency of some of its leaders. The Election Commission data showed BJP leading in 48 out of 90 seats, while Congress won 37. He urged Congress to acknowledge the reality of the political landscape and shed overconfidence, asserting that ground-level engagement is crucial for their resurgence.
