BJP's Devender Rana Secures Landslide Victory in J&K Elections
In the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, BJP's Devender Rana claimed a decisive win in Nagrota, while the PDP's Rafiq Ahmad Naik secured a narrow victory in Tral. BJP candidate Devender Rana emerged victorious from Nagrota segment with the largest winning margin, while the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) Rafiq Ahmad Naik narrowly clinched the Tral seat in the recently concluded Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
Rana, previously elected on a National Conference (NC) ticket in 2014, retained his seat this time as a BJP candidate, securing a substantial margin of 30,472 votes against NC's Joginder Singh. Meanwhile, BJP's Surjit Singh Slathia won by 29,481 votes in Samba.
The assembly elections saw several tight races: independent Pyare Lal Sharma defeated former minister G M Saroori by 643 votes in a quadrangular contest. NC's Javaid Riyaz narrowly defeated People's Conference's Imran Ansari by 603 votes, highlighting the electoral competitiveness in the region.
