The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on track to form its third consecutive government in Haryana, overcoming exit poll predictions with an impressive electoral performance. The Hindi heartland appears to solidify as a BJP stronghold, marking a hattrick, while the Congress's expected advantage fell short despite widespread anti-incumbency sentiments.
BJP leaders attributed their success in Haryana to a 'pro-incumbency' wave, citing a decade of significant governance achievements. The Election Commission reports show BJP leading or winning in 49 seats, whereas Congress trails with 36. Meanwhile, the Indian National Lok Dal and Independents claim two and three seats respectively in the 90-seat assembly.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference leads with 42 seats, while BJP stands at 29. Congress managed six, with other parties securing minor victories. Farooq Abdullah expressed optimism over the NC-Congress mandate, eyeing a return to stable governance in the state post abrogation of Article 370.
