The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a third consecutive victory in Haryana, achieving their largest tally in the state’s assembly elections. Meanwhile, the National Conference (NC)-Congress alliance is poised to establish leadership in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a momentous shift in the union territory's political landscape.
Unexpected results emerged as the BJP defied exit polls and early predictions in Haryana, ultimately leading in 50 of the 90 seats. The Congress, which had aimed to capitalize on their earlier Lok Sabha success, faced a setback as they trailed in their attempts to form a government.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the NC emerged victorious, winning 41 out of 51 contested seats. Omar Abdullah, ready to assume the chief ministerial position, underscored the significant responsibilities ahead. The NC-Congress victory reflects regional discontent with past administrative decisions, notably the abolition of Article 370.
