In a significant turn of events, Dr. Farooq Abdullah announced that his son, Omar Abdullah, is poised to become the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister emphasized that the assembly polls have reflected the public's preference for the National Conference-Congress alliance, underscoring a rejection of past decisions made on August 5.

Expressing his gratitude to voters, Farooq Abdullah highlighted that the upcoming administration plans to address pressing issues such as unemployment and inflation. Meanwhile, jubilant celebrations erupted as the National Conference chief appeared on his balcony greeting supporters.

Elsewhere, Congress supporters, led by figures like L. Rex in Tiruchirappalli, echoed the celebrations by distributing Kashmiri apples and bursting crackers. With the alliance crossing the critical halfway mark, Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra discussed plans about power-sharing dynamics among coalition partners.

According to the EC's latest update, the National Conference holds a promising position with 24 seats won and a lead on 17 others. The BJP trails with 17 seats secured, while PDP and other smaller parties make modest gains.
