Czech President Petr Pavel appointed two new ministers on Tuesday, marking a significant reshuffle following the Pirates' exit from the coalition government. This change follows the dismissal of Regional Development Minister Ivan Bartos by Prime Minister Petr Fiala, who cited issues with a digital system for building permits.
Despite the ongoing political tensions, Fiala's government retains a majority in the lower house of Parliament, supported by four other coalition parties. The departure of the Pirates came after a claim of breach of their coalition agreement, although Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky chose to remain in the government after leaving the Pirates.
The reshuffle follows the recent success of the opposition party ANO, who gained ground in regional elections, strengthening their position ahead of next year's parliamentary election. Lukas Vlcek was also sworn in as the new Industry and Trade Minister, replacing Jozef Sikela, nominated for a European Commission role.
