Omar Abdullah Secures Victory in Budgam Assembly Seat
Omar Abdullah, National Conference vice president, won the Budgam assembly seat in Jammu and Kashmir, defeating PDP's Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi by over 18,000 votes. Abdullah garnered 36,010 votes against Mehdi's 17,525. He previously contested 2014 elections and was defeated in 2024 parliamentary polls.

Omar Abdullah, the vice president of the National Conference, clinched victory in the Budgam assembly seat in Jammu and Kashmir. He defeated the People's Democratic Party's Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi with a commanding margin exceeding 18,000 votes.
Abdullah secured a total of 36,010 votes in Budgam as opposed to Mehdi's count of 17,525, reinforcing his political stronghold. He is also leading in Ganderbal, a well-known family bastion.
In the past, Abdullah contested from the Sonwar and Beerwah seats in Srinagar and Budgam districts during the 2014 elections. Despite winning in Beerwah, he faced a defeat in the 2024 Parliamentary elections for the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat against independent candidate Sheikh Abdul Rashid, who was entangled in legal troubles at the time.
