The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demonstrated a formidable performance in the latest Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, winning 10 seats and leading in 19, a significant improvement from the 2014 polls where they secured 25 seats overall.

Notable victories include former minister Sham Lal Sharma securing the Jammu North seat by a margin of 27,363 votes, and two-time MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia overcoming Harsh Dev Singh in Chenani by 15,611 votes. The party's spokesperson, Ranbir Singh Pathania, emerged victorious in Udhampur East despite internal challenges.

Other successes included Darshan Kumar's triumph over veteran Congress leader Choudhary Lal Singh in Basohli by 16,034 votes, and Garu Ram's win in Suchetgarh. However, the BJP lost four key seats: Surankote, Inderwal, Gurez, and Lal Chowk.
