BJP Wins Basholi: Darshan Kumar Defeats Veteran Congress Leader

Veteran Congress leader Choudhary Lal Singh faced a significant challenge as BJP candidate Darshan Kumar emerged victorious in the Basholi seat of Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district.
Lal Singh, aged 66, managed to secure only 15,840 votes in contrast to Kumar's 31,874, losing by a margin of 16,034. Both BSP candidate Pankaj Kumar and PDP's Yoginder Singh received 368 votes each, losing their security deposits.
Following his victory, Darshan Kumar expressed gratitude towards voters and emphasized his commitment to the region's development. Lal Singh, a seasoned politician, previously served as an MLA, MP, and held a ministerial position but has faced consecutive defeats in recent elections.
