In a strategic political shift, Jharkhand's sole Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA, Kamlesh Singh, has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the forthcoming state assembly elections. Singh's move is anticipated to bolster the BJP's influence in the Palamu region and beyond.

The decision, marked by a welcoming ceremony led by Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi, was witnessed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also BJP's election co-in-charge for the state. Both leaders expressed optimism that Singh's alignment with the party would generate new momentum for the BJP.

Singh, who withdrew support from the Soren-led government last year due to unaddressed demands, particularly the designation of Hussainabad as a separate district, aims to reinforce BJP's efforts to tackle issues like corruption and law and order under the current administration. The BJP's focus remains on forming a majority government and elevating Jharkhand among India's top five states.
