Maratha activist Manoj Jarange issued a stern warning on Friday, emphasizing the urgency of granting his community reservation under the OBC category prior to the activation of the model code of conduct for upcoming assembly elections. Failing to do so, he cautioned, would mean those in power risk not being spared.
At a press conference in Antarwali Sarati village, Jalna, Jarange urged both the ruling party and the opposition to cease political maneuvering and focus on the Marathas' 'rightful inclusion' in the OBC category. He stated, "The BJP, with its stronghold at both state and central levels, can settle this issue swiftly by elevating the reservation ceiling or including Marathas as Kunbis in the OBC list."
Jarange further alleged that both political sides are exploiting the reservation issue for electoral advantages. He appealed for action before the election code of conduct is implemented, mentioning that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has yet to address the community's demands but might risk losing power if not resolved.
